Chasanowitsch, Leon (Schub, Kasriel)
(1882-1925)
   Labour Zionist leader, of Lithuanian origin. He was born near Vilna. He became active in Labour Zionism in 1905, and in 1908 was forced to flee from the Russian police to Galicia. He served as secretary of the world Poale Zion movement from 1913 to 1919. He published studies on the Polish and Ukrainian pogroms and represented Labour Zionism at international socialist congresses.
