Babylonian exilarch (917-40). He appointed Saadyah ben Joseph gaon of Sura, but later quarrelled with him and had him deposed. The supporters of Saadyah attempted to appoint a new exilarch, Josiah-Hasan. After a bitter dispute the two parties reached a compromise.
