(1819-83)
Galician Yiddish and Hebrew poet. He travelled to various European cities as a singing bard. His poems were concerned with nature and man, poverty and wealth, and the struggle of light and darkness (symbolizing the opposition of the maskilim and the Hasidim). Much of his poetry employs parody and satire. His collected poems appeared between 1865 and 1878.
