1) (Qoahaz) (fl. 9th cent, BCE)
King of Israel (c.814-800 BCE), son of Jehu. During his reign, Aram turned Israel into a tributary nation, reduced its army, and controlled large parts of its territory (II Kings 13:1-9).
2) (Shallum) (fl. 7th cent BCE)
King of Judah (609 BCE), son of Josiah. His name was origi-nally Shallum (Jeremiah 22:11), but it was changed to Jehoahaz when he was made king after his father had been killed in the battle against Pharaoh Necho II at Megiddo. Three months later Necho II deposed Jehoahaz and put his elder brother Jehoiakim in his place (II Kings 23:33-34; II Chronicles 36:3-4). Jehoahaz died in captivity in Egypt (II Kings 23:29-34).
