(fl 1st cent BCE)
Queen of Judea (76-67 BCE). She succeeded her husband Alexander Yannai. Reversing his policy towards the Pharisees, she gave them internal control of the country while retaining responsibility herself for the army and foreign policy. When she appointed her son Hyrcanus as high priest and heir, his younger brother Aristobulus denounced her action.
