Sarah
(fl. 19th-16th cent BCE)
Israelite woman, wife of
Abraham and mother of
Isaac. After many years of barrenness, she gave
Abraham her maidservant
Hagar, who bore him a son,
Ishmael. Later Sarah gave birth to
Isaac. She is one of the four matriarchs of Judaism.
