In accordance with the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA), an activity of a specified kind which is carried on by way of business and either relates to an investment of a specified kind or a specified activity of a kind which is carried on in relation to property of any kind (section 19, FSMA). The Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Regulated Activities) Order 2001 (SI 2001/544) (as amended) establishes the activities to be regulated under FSMA. The activities include deposit-taking, effecting and carrying out contracts of insurance and investment activities.
