inosine monophosphate
(IMP) a nucleotide, the 5′-phosphate of inosine, formed by deamination of adenosine monophosphate (AMP); it is the precursor of AMP and GMP (guanosine monophosphate) in purine biosynthesis and an intermediate in the salvage of purines and the degradation of purines to uric acid.
