eth·a·cryn·ic ac·id (eth″ə-krinґik) [USP] a loop diuretic used in the treatment of edema associated with congestive heart failure or hepatic or renal disease, of ascites due to malignancy, idiopathic edema, or lymphedema, or of hypertension, often in combination with other drugs, and as an adjunct in the treatment of acute pulmonary edema; administered orally.
