Molar
In dentistry, a molar is one of the posterior teeth well adapted to grinding, in keeping with its origin from the Latin mola meaning millstone.

Denoting a concentration of 1 gram-molecular weight (1 mol) of solute per liter of solution, the common unit of concentration in chemistry. Cf.:molal. 5. Denoting specific quantity, e.g., m. volume (volume of 1 mol).

in the permanent dentition, the sixth, seventh, or eighth tooth from the midline on each side in each jaw (see also wisdom tooth). Permanent molars do not replace primary teeth. In the primary dentition, molars are the fourth and fifth teeth from the midline on each side in each jaw.

mo·lar (M) (M) (moґlər) 1. pertaining to a mole of a substance, such as molar mass or molar absorptivity, i.e., the quantity of some property associated with a mole of the substance. 2. a measure of the concentration of a solute, expressed as the number of moles of solute per liter of solution, e.g., 0.25M = 0.25 mole per liter (mol/L). The latter notation is used in the SI system.
