Antisepsis
Prevention of infection by inhibiting or arresting the growth and multiplication of germs (infectious agents). Antisepsis implies scrupulously clean and free of all living microorganisms. From the Greek roots anti- meaning against + sepsis against putrefaction = literally, against putrefaction.
