myoclonus epilepsy any of a group of disorders, of varying etiologies, in which seizures (epilepsy) are accompanied by muscle contractions (myoclonus); the group includes a benign idiopathic form, juvenile myoclonic epilepsy, as well as various progressive inherited disorders, including Unverricht-Lundborg disease, MERRF syndrome, and Lafora disease.
