peri·derm (perґĭ-durm″) [peri- + -derm] 1. the large-celled outer layer of the two-layered fetal epidermis, which is loosened by hair that grows beneath it and generally disappears before birth. Called also epitrichium. the 2. cuticle (eponychium) and hyponychium considered together.
