suc·ci·nate de·hy·dro·gen·ase (sukґsĭ-nāt de-hiґdro-jən-ās) [EC 1.3.99.1] an enzyme of the oxidoreductase class that catalyzes the oxidation of succinate to fumarate, using a variety of hydrogen acceptors. An iron-containing flavoprotein, it is a component of succinate dehydrogenase (ubiquinone), an enzyme complex of the tricarboxylic acid cycle.
