Insular
Style of calligraphy which emerged in Britain following the departure of the Romans. The Insular half-uncial was used by both Irish and English book writers. It evolved from the standard *uncial but showed some very elegant cursive features in its ascenders (b, d, f, h, l), and descenders (g, p, q), as well as the loops between letters.
