Term used for the intermediate audit of a *manor or estate of a lord for one of many reasons. It might have been felt that money was not being properly accounted for, that there were problems with leases. Such a visit would have been at the instigation of a *receiver, delegated to his *steward and perhaps accompanied by an auditor. -
