González, Gilberto
(1906-1954)
   Guanajato-born character actor, often in villainous roles, from Janitzio (1934) into the 1950s. He won the first Best Supporting Actor Ariel (in 1946) for his role in Canaima, and repeated in 1951 for Vino el remolino y nos alevantó. Also nominated in 1948 for La perla and in 1953 for El rebozo de Soledad. His son also became an actor, under the name Gilberto Román.
