Political organization. An umbrella organization that includes a variety of liberal and extreme right-wing political parties and organizations, The Other Russia (Drugaia Rossiia) emerged in the late Putin administration, calling itself a “national forum” dedicated to providing an alternative to the pro-Kremlin parties. The group’s most well-known personalities include Garry Kasparov, Mikhail Kasyanov, and Eduard Limonov. The Other Russia rose to national prominence as the organizer of the 2007 Dissenters’ March. The coalition operates a website in English, where it collects donations from abroad. Both The Other Russia and its leaders have been criticized by the Kremlin for being a “fifth column” for Western control of the country.
