Treasure-gem. A round shining ball, representing a tama, carried in some festival processions. It has various symbolic associations especially with the soul (tama), with the trophy fought for by youths in hadaka matsuri and winter festivals and with ryujin, the dragon kami associated with the sea, lakes and rain.
