Lloyd Webber
[lɔɪd 'webə], Andrew, Baron of Sydmonton (seit 1997), britischer Komponist, * London 22. 3. 1948; studierte am Royal College of Music in London, wurde bekannt mit dem Poporatorium »Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat« (1968; verschiedene Musicalfassungen seit 1972/73), den Rockopern »Jesus Christ Superstar« (1971) und »Evita« (1978) sowie den Musicals »Cats« (1981, nach Gedichten von T. S. Eliot), »Starlight express« (1984), »The phantom of the opera« (1986, deutsch »Das Phantom der Oper«; nach dem Roman von G. Leroux), »Aspects of love« (1989), »Sunset Boulevard« (1993) und »Whistle down the wind« (1996), von denen einige Welterfolge wurden. Um Fußball und die Nordirlandfrage geht es in »The beautiful game« (2000), um Filmträume in Bollywood, dem indischen Hollywood, in »Bombay dreams« (2002).
