(1888–1982) a British ↑ballet dancer and ↑director, born in Poland. After dancing with Sergei Diaghilev’s company (1912–13) she opened a ↑ballet school in London (1920) which developed into the ↑Rambert Dance Company. She was made a ↑dame in 1962.
