a cricket club, established in 1787, which used to be the main administrative organization for all cricket in England and Wales. It owns and has its ↑headquarters at ↑Lord's in north London. The MCC is still responsible for the rules of cricket, wherever it is played. Many people consider the club and its members to be rather old-fashioned. Membership is limited and there is a long list of people waiting to join. Women members have only been allowed since 1998.
