John Bunyan [John Bunyan]

(1628–88) an English writer of religious books, who also made religious speeches in public places. He fought on the side of Parliament in the ↑English Civil War and later spent 11 years in prison for making ↑Nonconformist religious speeches. While in prison, he began his most famous book, ↑Pilgrim's Progress.
