(1880–1960) a US ↑producer and ↑director of silent comedy films, born in Canada. He established the Keystone Company in 1912 and made the first long comedy, Tilly’s Punctured Romance (1914). Sennett created the ↑Keystone Kops and brought Charlie Chaplin to ↑Hollywood. He received a special ↑Oscar in 1937.
