Paul Newman [Paul Newman]
(1925–2008) a US actor who also produced and directed films. He is perhaps best remembered for his part in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969). His other films include Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958), The Hustler (1961), Cool Hand Luke (1967), The Sting (1973), Nobody’s Fool (1994) and The Road to Perdition (2002). He received a special ↑Oscar in 1985 and an Oscar for The Color of Money (1986). Newman was married to the actor Joanne Woodward, with whom he often appeared in films. He was also a ↑NASCAR racing driver and he owned a food company called Newman’s Own, whose profits are given to charity.
