Australian Russell Crowe has developed a career as one of the best actors of the 21st century, having three Academy Award nominations and one award for best actor. But Crowe’s first film in the United States was a Western. He played Cort, the gunslinger-turned-pacifist clergyman in The Quick and the Dead (1995). Sharon Stone delayed production of the film until the relatively unknown Crowe could take the part. The 2007 remake of 3:10 to Yuma has Crowe playing the outlaw Ben Wade in the role Glenn Ford made famous.
