Amabel f
English: of Old French origin, from Latin amÄbilis lovable. This name is now very rare in the English-speaking world, but lies behind the much commoner ANNABEL (SEE Annabel) and MABEL (SEE Mabel). It gained some currency from being borne by the character Amabel Rose Adams in Angela Thirkell's Barsetshire Chronicles (1933 onwards).
