(1918-2003)
Born in Vilnius, Wilner was educated at a Hebrew high school in Vilnius and at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. A journalist by profession, he was a Knesset member beginning with the first Knesset until his resignation in January 1990. At the time he was secretary general of the Israel Communist Party and a member of the Rakah (see NEW COMMUNIST LIST [RAKAH]) faction in the parliament. He participated in the symbolic 50th anniversary resigning of the Declaration of Independence in 1998.
