Toward the end of the 16th Knesset in 2005, a new parliamentary group split off from the Likud. Some two months later, it changed its name to Kadima. Among its members were Ariel Sharon, Meir Shitreet (Sheetrit), Ronnie Bar-On, Tzipi Livni, and Ehud Olmert.
