Mary II [Mary II]
(1662–94) the queen of England, Scotland and Ireland from 1688 to 1694. She was the elder daughter of King ↑James II, and married William of Orange (later King ↑William III), her Dutch ↑cousin, in 1677. After James II was removed from power in the ↑Glorious Revolution of 1688 she and William ruled together until her early death at the age of 32.
